We’re proud to launch Australasia's first electric emergency ambulance.
In the spirit of partnership towards sustainability for future generations, ASB Bank has kindly gifted this EV emergency ambulance to us after more than two years of planning, designing, and assembling this custom-built vehicle at Action Manufacturing in Hamilton. The vehicle will be trialled over the next year to test its range and capabilities to see whether it's a viable and sustainable option for us on our journey to reduce our emissions.
Dr Colin Tan, our Head of Service Improvement and Sustainability, says that as an emergency ambulance service, we see first-hand the impact of severe climate events and we are on a journey to halving our emissions by 2030.
“We are the first emergency service in Australasia to trial the feasibility of an electric emergency ambulance,” says Colin. “A priority to achieving this is optimising and transitioning our fleet to electric vehicles, which are cleaner, quieter, and more economical to run."
The Electric Emergency Ambulance is in addition to our fleet of over 1,300 vehicles and further supports our strategic commitment to tiaki, care for the environment and to build sustainability for future generations.
